Women’s Equality Day with Verizon 5G Labs & The WXR Fund

IT WAS IMPORTANT THAT WE MAKE THIS WOMEN’S EQUALITY DAY CELEBRATION EVEN MORE UNFORGETTABLE.

We received a huge opportunity to work with Verizon 5G Lab and the WXR Venture Fund in partnership with Kaleidoscope and Darragh Dandurand to create an immersive celebration titled, “Women of Spatial: A Creative Tech and Startup Summit” for Women’s Equality Day.

The 3D virtual hotel was sporting Verizon colors proudly displaying all of the brilliant companies that helped make this very special experience a reality. Our lollipop avatars roamed the digital halls each one prompting you to join a video chat room hosted by one of the featured companies. The pre-event networking buzz was very much alive in these group video calls where attendees were connecting and chatting while exploring the space together.

Our grand digital ballroom featured the main event, a live stream Creator Showcase including projects submitted to the Femme Futures Grant as well as exhibits from a variety of captivating women-led start-ups. The presentations were awe-inspiring. We noticed that many of our attendees in the video chat rooms were intensely and silently watching the live stream together.

Attendees then explored the 3D space and took the opportunity to connect with the speakers and each other. After weeks of ideating, prepping, and designing this was the first time I had ever used the platform as an attendee for a live event.

I really felt transported. Often, digital events make me feel like I’m still in my living room video chatting with someone. This was something different. It has something to do with this believable 3D space that we’ve created, allowing for a neutral ground. It feels like I went somewhere and with the integrated video call we could all chat and explore the space together without missing a beat or switching a tab. Everyone at Verizon and WXR has been so lovely to work with and I’m unbelievably excited to run with feedback.

We’re still crunching the numbers on the overall event turn out but we know that the 300 RSVP slots quickly sold out! There was so much positivity and constructive feedback. We look forward to the next opportunity to work with such talented people.

I’ve been to many women specific events and, consistently, something truly amazing happens when you have all these women-led companies in one place. I remember first attending events like these 10 years ago, shortly after college, and discovering that these events were more than just networking opportunities. I NEEDED to hear these stories. I didn’t realize how much these stories would resonate, inspire, and heal me.

Thank you to everyone that attended and the entire team for working so hard to make this event on Women’s Equality day even more unforgettable. To learn more about the featured companies and to view the Creator Showcase livestream recording please check the WXR Fund Website for details to come.

We can’t wait to keep exploring with you.
